Santa Rosa Trauma Treatment

Santa Rosa trauma treatment offers a powerful mind-body approach that effectively releases the emotional imprint of past traumas. EFT Tapping is a well researched method, recognized in the field of Traumatology for it's rapid, non-invasive process of neutralizing unresolved traumas.

Understanding Trauma

Emotional Trauma is the residual emotional intensity connected to a past traumatic event or loss that continues to trigger a negative internal reaction long after the event has passed.

Traumatic events can leave an imprint in our nervous system that may remain with us even when we have talked about it and gotten support. If thoughts of the event still remain clear, or evoke strong negative emotions, like grief/sadness, anxiety, anger, or fear, this is a sign of unhealed trauma.

The fight or flight (or freeze) response that occurs during a frightening, life-threatening, or severely painful experience, can remain activated in the nervous system, keeping you in a state of chronic stress even months or years afterwards. When this causes a pattern of disruption to your life and emotional well-being, this may warrant a diagnosis of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). However many people are affected by unresolved traumas and losses, who may not meet the diagnostic criteria for PTSD.

Associated thoughts, images, sounds, smells or similar situations may trigger some of the same emotions and internal physical reactions that you experienced when the original traumatic event occurred.

Santa Rosa trauma treatment offers a unique approach that neutralizes these old feelings and reactions so that they are no longer triggered, and the repeating patterns of the past are finally broken.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), also sometimes referred to as "Tapping" is an Energy Psychology method with a large body of research to support it's effectiveness in relieving trauma symptoms. The therapist or practitioner leads the client through a process where you (the client) taps gently on a series of acupressure points on your head and upper body, while having you focus on, and verbalize certain aspects of a traumatic memory. Tapping the points produces a calming effect on the nervous system so that when done effectively, the memory becomes less and less intense until it feels completely neutral (and often loses it's vivid imagery as well). When done successfully, the results are normally long lasting.
