Does TrueHope REALLY Work for Depression/Anxiety?
by Sharon

I've just ordered a 2-month supply of the Truehope's products (for people who are currently taking medication) and after reviewing the forum the hosted by the TrueHope company, I'm a bit discouraged. It appears that there are a lot of people on the board who started taking TH products for unipolar depression who aren't being helped.
Granted, I have found a few posts of people who say they're recovered from their depression/anxiety using TH products, but I've found far more posts from people with this combination of conditions who say they feel just as bad if not worse.
I don't really know whether the few success posts I've found are representative of a silent majority or whether the unsuccessful posts are. Can you give me some idea as to how successful your depression/anxiety patients have been with this product? I really want it to work, but if the chances are very low it's not going to, perhaps my time and money would be better spent looking at other pharmaceutical options.
Also, do some of your patients who have depression end up resuming taking an antidepressant along with their EMP+? Do you know of any that have taken it with Wellbutrin? That's the only drug that really helped me, but it stopped working as well after a couple of years...
Thanks in advance for your informed and un-biased opinion.

Ben's Answer:
Hi Sharon - thanks for your questions. I have only had experience with people trying EmPower Plus (from TrueHope), who have a diagnisis of Bipolar Disorder. For them, it has been mostly very positive and impressive results. I have not seen any of my clients with unipolar depression or anxiety try EmPower Plus, so I really don't have an opinion about that. I think it may be a good thing to try nonetheless.
As for taking it with Wellbutrin or any other medication - I know that the policy of the experts at TrueHope.com is that they generally warn people against taking their medication at the same time because the supplement can enhance or increase the effect of some medications and thus you may get too strong an effect. When they assist people in getting off their medication and onto the supplement, they normally slowly taper off all the meds, while slowly increasing the dose of EmPower. They might also suggest additional amino acids or Inositol to improve the outcome.
However, I have seen certain psychiatrists work directly with EmPower plus and in some cases may continue some medications for a period of time, while taking the supplement.
I would advise you to not make this decision on your own but to either consult your psychiatrist, Naturopath or the staff at TrueHope to come up with a safe plan.
In my experience with Depression, I have found EFT/Meridian Tapping to be one of the most effective things a person can do, as well as meditation, regardless of the choice of medication and/or supplements.
Hope that helps.
