Depression and Intense Worrying

Hi. What must I do to stop and control intense worrying that could lead to severe depression?
Besides talking to a therapist, what I believe is one of the most fast and effective methods of eliminating worry and fear, is Meridian Tapping/EFT - a self-help method that you can learn to use on your own, for a wide variety of issues.
Meditation can be another great way to become more peaceful and present, without focusing on the future all the time. But meditation works more over time, and with daily practice. Tapping can often help immediately. It basically disconnects the "worry-thought" from the resulting feeling of fear and anxiety and tension. So the thought is neutralized and no longer arouses any bad feelings, and just fades away.
