Four Lessons for Freeing Your Mind

Lesson #1: Positive Affirmations are no match for your subconscious negativity.

The Present Moment is the Only Place We are Truly Free.
Fear and Love cannot occupy the same space. Fear is at the root of every dysfunctional behavior we engage in. It's at the core of our desire, our impatience, our self-hatred, our judgement of others, our frustration with life. Fear binds us the the past and future, but cannot exist in the Present Moment. Since all thoughts you've ever had, and will ever have are based on the past, they simply dissolve into nothingness when we let go to the present.
Most of us spend the majority of our lives seeking a feeling of safety, pleasure, and security - but because we look to the future for these things, they remain forever in "the future."
All great spiritual traditions teach us that our salvation lies within us. But it isn't found in the mind. If the mind is telling you the answer, you can be sure it's not the deepest Truth.
When you're stuck in a mind-loop and don't know what to do, start by being kind to yourself. There's no hurry and no better place to get to that can't be found in this moment here and now.

"Fear is the only trouble. Know yourself as independent and you will be free from fear and its shadows. Pleasure depends on things, happiness does not.
As long as we believe that we need things to make us happy, we shall also believe that in their absence we must be miserable.
Mind always shapes itself according to its beliefs. Two of the best ways of learning to live in the Here and Now - and realize a more joyful state of inner peace, are Tapping, and Meditation.
I usually prefer to tap first, to remove any negative emotion or runaway thoughts that are burdening the mind and body. Then once this is done - which might only require five minutes of tapping - meditation is much easier.
It might otherwise take up most of your meditation time, just to muddle through the mental-emotional junk in the mind. By tapping first, it tends to be much easier to quickly go into a state of relaxation, inner concentration and self-awareness.
With regular practice, these practices cannot fail to produce very positive results for your peace of mind, for your relationships and for your life.

Don't Give Up!
Every life challenge is an opportunity to awaken. There is no situation that is hopeless. Something positive, healing and transformative is possible in all circumstances, even when we can't recognize it at the time. Sometimes we forge ourselves out of the fire of suffering and loss, and it isn't until the end that we realize what a beautiful work of art has emerged within. The glory of waking up can't be experienced if you don't first accept that you are asleep.
May we all find peace. May we all know joy. May we all be liberated from fear, and released from illusions. May we all return to the Truth of our inner Light.
