by Abby

I know this is weird but im in middle school -8th grade and i all i want to do is have a kids and get married and be a wedding planner...but i dont want to go to school i mean i obviously do to be a wedding planner but all i want to do is be like 25 and have like 6 kids i dont know what to do because i dont want to do anything but watch wedding planner shows and like "raising sextuplets" show on tlc..and just pray that im dreaming and that is me..its so weird..help

Ben's Answer:

If you want to have kids, you have to let yourself BE a kid first. You have a long time yet to enjoy your childhood. Adulthood isn't nearly as fun as it looks.

But, the lucky thing is, you actually know what you want - at such a young age. Some people go through their whole life never figuring out what they really want to do. You have a clear vision - a passion. Don't ever give up on that! Trust your feelings and your vision for your future and it is sure to become a reality. Your imagination is your most valuable tool for getting the life you want. Just enjoy yourself on the way there.

Life is about relationships. Be careful not to spend all your time watching TV or the TV becomes your "relationship." You can't learn about real life that way. If you want to have a good family someday, and be a wedding planner, you need to develop excellent relationship and people skills -- so find some real people to hang out with. The TV shows will still be there when you need them.

I wish you much happiness,
Ben Schwarcz, MFT
